What makes our times different is that what now
appears on the horizon is the possibility of a
society finally set free from necessity, both real
and imagined, by an explosion in abstract
innovations. Abstraction with the potential once
and for all to break the shackles holding hacking
fast to outdated and regressive class interests.
The time is past due when hackers must come
together with all of the producing classes of the
world -- to liberate productive and inventive
resources from the myth of scarcity. "The world
already possesses the dream of a time whose
consciousness it must now possess in order to
actually live it."
